After having written an article about effective goal setting, I felt the time was just right to set some new goals for myself. And so I did. I tried to apply the very same techniques that I described previously. Let’s check out their real efficiency.

I truly believe in the practival value of the techniques so I’ll reveal some of my own long-term goals now. I’ll prove the effectiveness of goal setting. You can follow my blog and watch the progress.

So here they are, my personal goals:

Earning over 200€ per month with internet activities. (Deadline: 01.04.10): Don’t get that one wrong. Getting money is not the main purpose of this site. Acquiring and spreading knowledge plus understanding are the main purposes. I don’t need to set goals for that. My desire to understand is big enough to keep me motivated anyhow. (And the spreading would be too difficult to test.) But since I am an undergraduate, 200€ a month would almost be enough to finance my appartment, so I wouldn’t need to take an extra job. Besides, this is an example of splitting big chunks, I won’t stop when I earn 200€ in a month.

Having submitted at least 50 posts to this blog. At least 27 posts need to be articles. (Deadline: 01.04.10): No spamming allowed. Articles must be at least 300 words long. 27 articles may sound like nothing much, but you have to keep in mind that studying mathematics can really be a full time job. I don’t know yet how much stress it will be, so I was kind of careful with this number. If it will be less stressful than I thought, I’ll probably update this goal.

Having visible six pack abs. (Deadline: 01.04.10): I’m already in pretty good shape, but I never had visible six pack abs. That’s why this goal made it to the list.

Passing all of my exams: That’s one of the few things that work without setting dates. I choosed it to remind me that my real occupation is being an undergraduate.

Now you know about my goals. Did you set yours yet? If you did, why not tell others about them too? It would increase your motivation in the same way as posting this very article increases mine.
