The Basics of Effective Autosuggestion
You probably know about the placebo effect. It shows that people can recover from disease if they believe that they will recover. Placebos make their subconsciousness believe that they should become healthy again. And so they do.
It’s as if the placebo made a suggestion like: “I will operate like an ordinary pill. That means you will recover after swallowing me.” And the subconsciousness believes it and causes the body to recover.
But such suggestions don’t even require any pills to be effective. You can make them yourself. Without the need of any hocus-pocus. And that’s what autosuggestion is all about. Making your subconsciousness believe something you want it to believe.
But how to do that in an efficient way?
First you need to notice, that you have to perceive your suggestion in any way. You can do this visually, acoustically or mentally. This leads to a variety of basic techniques you can use. For example, you could write down your suggestions and read them, you could record your suggestions and listen to them or you could just think about them.
It’s not especially important which basic technique you choose to use, if you manage to implement the following points:
- Concentration: Concentration is vital for any progress. If you don’t concentrate while making your autosuggestion, you will slip off into daydreaming and forget about your real intentions. So try to keep focused, direct your attention to the suggestions.
- Variation: Make use of different senses. Hear your suggestion, feel it, see it, smell it. Imagine it with all its details. Let your mind form a clear mental image while perceiving your suggestions.
- Repetition: Repeat your suggestions. Repetition makes
